Open Your Eyes..

Having my trip abroad cancelled meant that I was free the whole sembreak and so I grabbed the first opportunity to head out of town. Irene invited me and Val to go with her family ( and her Italian neighbors) to Batangas last Sunday. I was quite surprised that my mom gave me permission to go on such an impromtu event, haha.

We sort of overslept that Sunday morning (woke up 8:30 instead of the 7:30 call time), which was why we all had to hurry around preparing our stuff and we actually forgot to bring the Cheetos! (Ahhh, tragedy! XP)

Arrived at Batangas around lunch time and went to explore the place. The house was situated really near the beach, like step out from the front door, walk a bit on the paved path and onto the sand!
The neighboring house even had 3 pet monkeys and thay made these cute "mew" sounds, much like a cat.

The sand was fun to play with, it was black and smooth, it felt really good to dig my feet into the sand. Haha, hopefully my dead skin were all brushed off, with sand being a natural exfoliant.

The water wasn't deep at all, one kilometer from the shore and we were still wading in knee-deep water. We spotted a island-ish mass from afar and wanted to check us out. Sadly, our adventure was cut short  because the island was surrounded by a lot of rocks, making it hard to reach, unless we wanted to risk getting our feet injured.

Near the shore, we found two starfishes! One even had it's arm cut, the length was half of what it should have been. Must've gotten an accident or something. Victor (the son of the Italian neighbors) got a plastic bag, caught the two starfishes and we headed to the shore to inspect (and experiment) our newly-found specimens. We turned them upside down for a contest to see who would be able to get right-side up again. The starfishes had dozens of these tiny tentacle-like structures (which they obviously use for movement) beneath it, waving here and there. It was a true National Geographic moment, haha.

Irene found two bags of Oishi and we ate them right there on the beach while still swimming. To our surprise, Denise accidentally dropped one bag on the water. And thus, a new falvor of Oishi was created: Seawater flavor. Haha! It was still ok to eat, those sticks that were on top were fine, but those at the bottom had a dash of seawater already. =9

We left Batangas at 4, encountered heavy traffic at Tagaytay and arrived back in Manila at 7. Ate dinner at NP: Kopi Tiam. Their curry was delicious! I do hope they open a branch in Makati.

Masarap humiga sa sand!

The joy of patron tickets

I can see myself on TV!

Scored 2 patron tickets for the Game 1 of the Finals. I went to watch with my older sister, but I met up first with Bryan and AIdz in Gateway before going in. My sister and I were seated in A3 and A4, which meant that we were in the farmost right-hand corner (when facing the court, opposite the UST side). Sitting at patron seats was fun, duh, you can see everything, but there was something lacking. Compared to the people from the Upper boxes, those who were seated in patron were not as energetic. Yes, they cheered, but only a bit and not as enthusiastic. I remeber looking back every once in a while at those at the Upper box because they seemed to be having so much fun. Plus, the Blue Babble was with them, and so they were ensured of a healthy dose of noise and excitement. My sister and I were the only ones who were jumping up and down (like loons) and everytime we stood up, the guard would tell us to sit still O_o. One word to sum up the audience in the patron seats? Passive. But I guess that's because most of them were alumni. Not complaining of the patron seats, don't get me wrong. We could see everything and were so close to the court, I could smell the players' sweat already haha. I could have reached out and grabbed Chris Tiu if he'd stand still for a moment. Double haha. And a sweatdrop.

Ah, alam ko sobrang gasgas na ito but still....
Doug Kramer for the win!!!!

I'd like to see the "Beware of Doug" t-shirt Bryan was telling me about.

Growling Tigers are champions this year. For our Law 11 project, we suggested opening up a restaurant whose specialty is inhiaw na tigre. Hehe, no, di kami bitter sa uaap. Hahahaha.

No, seriously.

Uh oh, Hell Week is fast approaching, I can feel it....Dun dun dun DUN!

Some notable events:
July 28 - Celadon Com and Pub night
>Helped out as a facilitator for the GD and an actress, for promo video and for live-action roleplay (Huh? May roleplay ba na hindi live-action? o_O Hehehe)
>Sarah arrived late, but that's ok, haha. She thought the whole thing started at 6 but it was actually 4.30 that was written on the invitation.
>Aidz took pictures with her digital camera and all these weird orb things appeared. Pretty freaky. Could they have been restless spirits? I tackled that topic for my Fil12 presentation. One logical explanation I found was that digtial cameras are rather sensitive (since they have high resolution) and so they have the tendency to pixelate the smallest of particles, such as dust. Still it was kind of fun to imagine the possibilities. I went around the room, taking random pictures with my camera, hoping something interesting would appear :P

Aug 3 - Of PE, a quirky outfit and looking Japanese/Korean
>I wore my funky new bolero (I just bought over the weekend at Freeway. Black with white polka dots and an emboidered guitar design) and my new chucks with mismatched laces. The left shoe had black laces (courtesy of Bryan) and the right had silver shiny laces. My brother said the silver laces reminded him of aluminum and that they were so shiny they could blind someone. Whatever.
Anyway, so the minute I walked in the PE lecture room, I could feel all eyes on me and then my professor remarked: "Oh, that's a cute getup you have there. Are you in a play or something?"
I smiled sweetly. "Ummmm, no"
If I were an anime character, I would have had a sweatdrop over my head. But, I took that as a compliment, haha. After class, Chaley told me I looked like Korean or Japanese. I get this comment a lot, haha.
I look forward to the next time I can 'dress-up' again, hahaha. It's fun going against conformity.

Aug 4 - Celadon GA and Acc15 LT
>The two just had to coincide did they? Which was the very reason why I couldn't sit still while hanging out in the GA. Accounts recievables, accrued expense and trial balance were all swirling inside my head as Daphne (our dear President) gave her speech.
>All the managers were required to wear orange. We all looked so cute with our bright outfits, haha.
>Escaler Hall (where I had my Acc LT) is extremely COLD! I already had a jacket on but I was still freezing. There was a point when my fingers refused to move (as if they were frozen solid) and I let out a exasperated sigh and thought that I saw fog from my breath o_O
>My block took a "before the exam" picture, where everyone was smiling and looking all carefree. We were supposed to have an "after the exam" picture (where everyone would look harrassed, with our hair all sticky-out as if we've been pulling on it in frustration) but everyone was just too tired and immediately went home.

Hodgepodge entry [15 Jul 2006|08:01pm]
[ mood | thoughtful ]
[ music | Dance, dance - Fall Out Boy ]

A synthesis of what has been happening:

>I have made it my goal to recite at least twice in every subject every day. (I'm thinking of making it thrice...)

>Speaking of recitation, I recieved an A in Law 11 last week. Yay for me.

>My Com 11 classroom is too white (walls painted white) that it reminds me of a mental asylum, solitary confinement. Someone hand me a straitjacket. Oh, I'm not saying Com 11 isn't fun. I'm enjoying Com11. The extreme whiteness is just disarming.

>I'm having fun in my Psy 101 class. Got an A for group presentation. A surprise since my groupmates were quite....unfocused. Ended up coming up with all the questions for the class game. The task was assigned to me at 10:00 the night before (cramming much?) We pulled it off though!

>I'm also determined to love accounting, but unfortunately accounting doesn't love me back (it's hell bent on ruining my life) *sob*

> I lost 25 bucks in Rockwell's Powerstation. The red button of the left guitar of Guitar Freaks is broken again. I failed on the first song because of this. Boo.

>I've found the perfect way to review for Japanese Class....translate my mangas!

> Just had my right wisdom tooth removed. I hurted A LOT! I couldn't even smile or laugh the first few days. And my friends were trying to make me laugh. I thought I would have to go araound with a mini whiteboard and pen to communicate but it was only the first day that I couln't talk at all. I had no choice but to mime. I remember trying to ask my brother for an ice pack so I traced a square shape with my fingers and then acted I was feeling cold. He handed me a pillow. I threw it back at him.

>I love the smell of new clothes! Haha. As soon as I heard that Bayo was having it's clearance sale, I charged into the nearest accessible branch. Walked out with a new pair of jeans.  I wanted to buy loads more but we were in a hurry. (I wanted a skirt but it was from Kids of Bayo. Haha. It could have fitted me though). The line for the dressing room was loooong. Well, not brutal as when Zara had their sale. The place was a total warzone. It was a shame I didn't buy anything there. I wanted a half a dozen skirts and a corset (tried one on and it looked really cute) Sale, shmale, it was still too expensive! :(

> Starbucks' Java Chip Frappucino is yummy.

>Ritsu (my bunny) is shedding. His fur is all sticky-out-ish and he's turned from grey to dark grey. And the other day, I found a clump of fur on the floor. Haha. A katamari of fur that would make the Prince proud. (reference from Katamari Damacy)

> Com and Pub Celadon night is fast approaching! XD

>My right arm aches every now and then. The culprit? One jampacked file case and 3 heavy textbooks. My classes are one after another which means I have no time to dump them in my locker and retrieve them when needed.

>Yes! I actually have a locker! Haha. I survived first year without one. My 'locker' was the whole Matteo Ricci, specifically, the Celadon table.

> My older brother is getting married!

It's been one month since my last update. Why haven't I been updating? You can place the blame on my CJ aka Creative Journal aka Blog's rival
cre·a·tive  (adj)
-Characterized by imagination and expressiveness
jour·nal (n)
-A personal record of occurrences, experiences, and reflections kept on a regular basis

Is it a diary? Um, no....well, not really...er, maybe it is kind of like one.....ok, yeah, it's a diary. Only bigger ---->I wrote it in a scrapbook; and better! --->I can doodle/draw, do anything I want!

Why did I start a CJ? Mainly because I wish to have an intensive, guided encounter with my own creativity (Jimenez, Creative Covenant, 1). It's been a long time since I actually wrote. I've noticed I'm often typing these days....

So there you have it, the reason behind my blogging absence.
But, all is not lost for my dear blog! My guilty conscience wouldn't leave me alone and thus, here I am, reviving you from near eradication! (?)

Today, I was reminded on why I hated going to the dentist (or doctor)

My teeth were due for cleaning today so off I went to Binondo to pay a visit to the Torture Chamber aka my dentist. During my last visit, my gums bled so much they had to use God-knows-how-many wads of cotton to mop up all the crimson. Gums don't bleed during cleaning, for crying out loud!!!
Fortunately, this visit was blood-free one. Unfortunately, they still used that horrible tool reminiscent of an ice pick to poke and scrape at my pearly-whites. You know that annoying high-pitched sound your fingernails make when you run them across the blackboard? The ice pick made that exact sound. I had to listen to an orchestra of high-pitched scraping, whirring, whizzing and whooshing.

After 45 minutes, the assistant finally told me it was over. Yes, now I can leave! But then, she told me to transfer to the other room. I wanted to ask why but I was quickly ushered inside. I thought it was because another patient was going to use the room (where I just came from) and so I was to wait in the other. How wrong I was. Next thing I knew, they were strapping me to the chair, giving me a heavy and thick vest to wear and wheeling a huge complicated-looking contraption to face me. I managed to stammer out a bewildered: "Ano 'to?" before the assistant forced this plastic thing into my mouth,  saying "Kailangan mo magpa-X-ray" She then proceeded to stuff in Xray filmstrips into my mouth. They were shoved so deep down that I started choking and almost swallowed the damn things.

The results of the xray? I had 4 impacted molars which meant I had to undergo dental surgery to correct them. First one gets removed on the 24th.

I'd rather go swimming in piranha-infested waters dressed as a meatloaf.

I'm thinking of naming him after food, haha. Something like Hershey or Filet Mignon (just kidding!). Hmmmmm. Why do I have this strange urge to call my fish Deathscythe?

I'm turning 19 tomorrow....my last teen year until I hit the big 2-0. Nooooooooo!

~My Extremely Wishful Birthday Wishlist~

The you'll-get-these-when-pigs-fly stuff
1) Ipod - My mom read an article in USA Today which was yakking about Ipods being damaging to its listeners' ears. Oh come on, it's not like I'll use the maximum volume, right? Pffft.
2) Laptop - My parents are anti-technology
3) Guitar Heroes - They don't sell these here in the Philippines =(
4) EyeToy - really expensive
5) A swimming pool in my backyard - though my yard is big enough to actually hold one, a pool would be rather high-maintainance
6) Jpop/Jrock CDs
7) Those little cars they had in the new Italian Job movie. Hahaha. I'd love to drive one of those!

The delusory, unrealistic and downright eccentric stuff
1) own movie theater, something like MyCinema in Greenbelt. I'm going to plug in my PS2 and play Fatal Frame there...hehehe
2) DanceManiax and Guitar Freaks....oh, and Drum Freaks as well. And Air Hockey. Heck, my very own arcade then! XD
3) All the anime and gaming artbooks I want (FF series Visual Collection, Soul Calibur III artbook, War of Genesis, Bleach, etc)
4) A bunny farm
5) Ace Water Spa - I want to live here! Hahaha
6) an airplane
7) all the books from Fully Booked and all the manga from C.A.T.S - I want to live in FB too! Wouldn't it be great if FB was my personal library? Hahaha
8) a pogostick - I think they were selling these in SM before but now I can't find them anymore. My classmate had one.
9) a katana

Daydreaming sure is nice, eh?

I haven't blogged about my trip to Iloilo yet. Argh. I'm getting way behind. Will do by tomorrow!

I finally fixed my load revision! (And caught sore eyes and the flu in the process)

Here is my schedule for the summer

7:30 - 9:00 AM ~ Eco 102
3:00 - 6:00 PM ~ ITM >Doesn't start 'till May 11 though.

Hey, is that a 6 hour break I see in between Eco and ITM? Whoopee for large amounts of free time and immense boredom.

My family is going to Iloilo tomorrow, which means I'd be home alone until Thursday (since I'll be following them to Iloilo too, shhhh!)!

The pros of being home alone:
>nobody to yell/scold/criticize/nag me
>I have the playstation and the PC all to myself
>I can listen to music as loud as I want

Hmmm, funny, that's all I can think of....I thought there'd be more.

The cons of being home alone:
>it's lonely....no one to talk to
>no one to bother (hehehehehehe)
>I'm not allowed to go anywhere. Just restricted to the Makati area

Let me give some acknowledgements where they are due:

I would like to thank my mom and my brother for teaching me a couple of valuable lessons last Sunday - it is utterly useless to try/attempt to get one's opinion/point/idea to penetrate the brain of a close-minded person. I'll have better luck in asking a roll of tissue to sprout legs and do a tap dance. I also learned that sometimes keeping my big mouth shut is the still safest option. Heck, as if someone'll listen to what I have to say anyway. Moreover, I've also learned that people who get mad at the smallest of things are really shallow. Either they're bored, suffering from a twisted superiority complex or they actually gain some sick pleasure of hearing themselves talk and yell at people. Thank you both for spoiling a great Easter Sunday and for ruining my lunch (katsu-curry rice at my all-time fave Japanese restaurant). It had been a really educational day. You both have the remarkable talent of wrecking havoc on what should have been wonderful days for me. Let's see, what's the next big event coming up for me? Ah, my birthday. Looking forward for you guys to mangle up that day.

Back from Baguio! Since Monday actually, hahaha. Late entry, yeah, I know. Here's a summary of the events that have transpired:

-The Good-
> Strawberries! 'Nuff said.
> Rest and relaxation. Watched some dvds. (Punk'd First Season!)
> Fresh air. Nothing beats the nice woody smell of pine trees. Mmmmm!
> Bonding with relatives (whom I haven't seen for a long time already)

-The Bad-
>On the way there, we spotted a sign that said: ALTERNATE ROUTE TO BAGUIO. So, being adventurous, we took that so-called alternative road and after a few minutes of travelling....ended up in the middle of nowhere. We were in the midst of some fields and that was it. The "road" was even full of potholes. No houses, no people, absolutely nothing. We quickly made a U-turn and went back the way we came from and soon we were back to civilization.

>Baguio isn't as cold as it used to be. It was damn hot during the day and only during evening did the temperature fall. Well, it was summer in the Philippines after all, so can't really complain.

>I thought going early to beat the usual Holy Week rush was a great idea, sadly, it backfired. Baguio was crowded with people from Manila. I guess everyone else thought that way too. Argh. SM was positively jampacked, which made me lose my appetite in shopping. (hmmmm, just when did shopping become edible? excuse the weird choice of words but shopping really does fuel me XD)

-The Funny-
> Never underestimate the entertainment aptitude of cards! My cousins and I played 1-2-3-pass, Basura (or slap jack as it is more popularly known), Food Etcetera (game semi-invented by me. although we changed it a bit and included movies too) and last but the most enjoyed one, Killers! Hehehe. I always ended up as a civilian (booooooring) and for some odd reason, I was ALWAYS the first one to be killed. The conclusion I got out of this strange misfortune? I have good eye contact with people ^ ^ Also, when fate decided to be kind to me and assigned me as the killer (only twice though), I just had to pick the cousin who was the cop to wink at first. Alas, my glory as the killer ended too abruptly.

> This is the conversation bteween my cousin and my brother Ernesson on our last night:
~Cousin A passes by the boys' bathroom and sees Ernesson busy mopping the bathroom floor~
Cousin A: Ernesson, what are you doing?
Ernesson: Mopping
Cousin A: Oh, ok....
~Cousin A walks away but after a couple of minutes, walks by again. Ernesson is stiil mopping the bathroom floor~
Cousin A: Hindi ka pa tapos? Ano ba nangyari?
Ernesson: Um....an accident....
Cousin A: Huh?
Ernesson: The toilet overflowed. (And he says this with a straight face)
Cousin A: Oh. Um, did the toilet have any, um, poo in it?
Ernesson: Um....yes...
*insert wild bursts of uncontrollable laughter here*

Later that night (almost midnight), Ernesson and my dad were seen struggling with the mop (again) and a bucket of water.
Me: What happened now?
Ernesson: Toilet overflowed. Again.
Me: Whaaaaat?! Who used it?
Ernesson: Cousin B, Cousin C and Cousin D. One after the other.
Me: *slaps palm into face in exasperation*
Dad: *trying to not to sound mad but was obviously losing his patience* Why is there no plunger in this house? We need to buy a plunger first thing tomorrow morning! Starting tonight, nobody will use the boys' bathroom to poo anymore! Go use the toilet in the clubhouse!
Me and my other cousins (who've come to witness the fiasco): *trying not to laugh (so we wouldn't anger my dad)but failed* Whahahahahahaha!

The clubhouse, if I may add, is located waaaay downstairs, you need to travel down 3 flights of stairs (our unit was in the 3rd floor) and still walk a bit of distance. Now who would do this dead in the middle of the night?

Ahhh, the absence of a plunger....the worst nightmare of the owner of a uncooperative toilet...

Ah....Summer. The season of sleeping late and waking up even later, and of shorts and flipflops; the time of the year where laziness reigns and real boredom actually exists. Yes, summer, the big empty space in-between the last semester of the concluding schoolyear and the first semester of the upcoming schoolyear. Oh crud, wait, I've just remembered, it's not a big empty space after all, I have summer classes, courtesy of ITM. Damn.

It's officially summer folks, since it's freaking hot! Oh, the joys of living in a tropical country.  I've forgotten how hot it could get when having long hair during the summer. Ok, fine, semi-long/shoulder length hair. It's just that I've always had short hair, which is why I'm just not used to having the back of my neck all sweaty.

Leaving for Baguio tomorrow, with my family, aunts and uncles and all my cousins in tow.  We're going early to beat the usual Holy Week rush.

Boredom busters I'll be bringing along for the trip:
- John Katzenbach's The Madman's Tale
-some magazines ( In style, Cosmopolitan, Time and Newsweek)
- PS2 and games (Fatal Frame 3, Soul Calibur 3, Katamari Damacy, etc)
- Nintendo DS (but my brother would be hogging it anyway so maybe that doesn't really count)
 - Badminton rackets and a couple of shuttlecocks
- hula hoop (What? It's fun to use the hula hoop!)

Are these too much for 4 days? Yeah, I think they are, after all, we'll be going sightseeing...hahaha, oh well.

Cleaned out my school stuff a while ago.
Interesting things I've discovered inside the oblivion/blackhole that I call my plastic file case:

1. Johari Window (from Eng 12 activity). A tad bit crumpled but still clean. It was nice reading about what my English blockmates thought of me. I shall now attempt to replicate it here (and insert my smart-ass remarks, ah, I meant humble comments.)

a. -WHAT I KNOW AND YOU KNOW ABOUT ME-
~You live in Makati - Greenbelt is my playground

~You look nice

~Atenean! Second emotion <------this was written in another person's handwriting though. Sorry, but I don't know what you mean...
~You need to speak up more

~Pretty!! - thanks for the complement

~You like p!nk :p - On the contrary, pink is far from my list of favourite colors. Sure, my bag may be pink and so are my chuck taylors, but I really don't like pink. Especially when it comes in the ligh pink/baby pink shade. *shudders* Too cutesy. Spare me, please. *tries hard to ignorte the fact that her chuck taylors are in a baby pink shade*

~You like accessories, especially necklaces - Hell yeah! Spot me wearing necklaces particaularly when I have on a plain shirt.
~Ican - Shall I sing my alma mater song for you? *remembers that she can't carry a tune to save her life* Um, nevermind.

b. -WHAT YOU KNOW THAT I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ME-
~You are hot! - ooookay....

~You're shy...but really intelligent

~Good writer

~Quiet. Tends to stay in the sidelines. - Quoting from my memoir: "Staying in the sidelines isn't a tragedy. The view is fantastic, if you ask me."

~Detail concious - I hope not to the point of being OC, haha

~Reserved

~Mysterious - Hmmmm. Genevieve, girl of mystery. Has a nice ring to it...XD

~Approachable - Yup, anything goes with me! Talk to me about anything under the sun! Fashion, food, video games, how Figaro's Caramel Frost Lite is the best concoction ever, um, concocted, those snobby Korean girls who won't stop hogging the DanceManiax in Rockwell, why Beef Teriyaki keeps serving Orange Tang and not in other flavors...shut up brain, shut up.

~You seem to be 1 of the most responsible people in class - Key word: SEEM. Hahaha

c. -WHAT I KNOW THAT YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME-
Nothing's written here.

d.-WHAT WE DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME-
Nothing's written here.

2. Five OAS Facility and Equiptment Request Form - This was when AL and I TRIED (and failed) to reserve the Kostka Extention for the Chinoy Photo Contest for Celadon. We wasted an hour waiting for the prehistoric OAS computers to load.

3. 1st semester's exam permit - wondering where that dissapeared to.

4. Letter from my friend Harold, giving me some good advice
My fave lines:
Risk is all there is in this world that we must overcome.
Risk, obviously, is a gamble to which we don't know the outcome. But when we take that leap of faith, it would be gratifying to know the outcome, regardless if it would be positive or negative.

Truly words of wisdom. Thanks Harold!

5. a 5 peso coin - now what was that doing in my plastic file case?

[ music | Rewrite - Asian Kung-Fu Generation ]

I understand that a month has already passed since the 1017 fiasco and so I apologize for this long overdued entry.

First off, I would like to share a nice statement I've read (from my friend):
The key to political stability is legitimacy although modern structural imbalances and certain attitudes and values have hindered its sustainalbilty.
-Jic Pineda, from his YM status one time.

How very true.

February 24, 2006. Friday. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo announces Presidential Proclamation 1017, a state of national emergency. “Immediately carry out necessary and appropriate actions and measure to suppress and prevent acts of terrorism and lawless violence.” She then commands the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) and the PNP (Philippine National Police).
Were these actions really necessary? Or was GMA just being paranoid? She’s morphed into a insufferable little drama queen, if you ask me. She suppressed everyone's civil rights to ensure her own safety in the position as president.
Good thing the state of emergency lasted only for a week and the coup rumors were all neutralized.
I've never been too keen about politics. Yeah, I bet you can tell, judging from the shortness of this entry.

"Maybe when that happened, I should have done this."
"Maybe when this happened, I should have done that."

Am I really handling things in the best way? Maybe. Maybe not. Who would know anyway? Each of us have our own way of dealing with things. You bear with them your way and I bear with them my way. It's that simple, really. Or is it? Individuality, it's called.
